I had laparoscopy on July 12, 2014 at St. Lukes Medical Center in Quezon City. Prior to that i was admitted at World Citi Medical Center for 3 days the reason for confinement was abdominal pain radiating to my back. It took them 3 days before they found out that I have gallstone. It cost 52,000(hospital bill + PF). Fortunately, i have intellicare but that is not the point. I had ultrasound 2 days after i was admitted and they already know that i had a gallstone but they still asked me to go on endoscopy and obviously result will be all normal. Doctors tried to convince me to had a surgery and luckily I had trouble with my intellicare which lead me to see more options. Surgeon in WCC said 90k + 30k allowance for open surgery and 150k-200k for laparoscopy. Since it cost me 52k for my confinement i only have less than 100k left for my intellicare because 150k was my maximum limit. Though, I'll choose open surgery I still have to shell some money. When i waa still thinking how to get money, I just tried to call St. Lukes to ask how much it may cost me to remove the gallstone, I spoke with Dr. Enrique Hilario Esguerra and gave me range of 110k - 130k for laparoscopy (110k total + 20k allowance). Me and my family realized that St. Lukes will be much cheaper but the problem was We don't have extra money to add for my operation. I also had a desperate plan, I was thinking since laparoscopy is cheap then why not have open surgery in St. Lukes? Right? But We talked to Mr. Esguerra again and he said "don't worry we will only use what's wanted for you". We asked help from our relatives and good thing they lend us money for my operation. I went to the clinic of Mr. Esguerra and he explained how big is my gallstone, the image from the ultrasound, set my expectation what will happen and many more. On our first meeting, I was really impressed because he educated me regarding my sickness and because of that I had an appointment for my operation. We went to St. Lukes July 11 in the evening for admission. I was amazed how pleasant people are in St. Lukes. It started from the admission office though it was late at night, people are still jolly. I got a room which is very cool because it has cable tv which WCC doesn't have the time I was confined, refrigerator which WCC doesn't have for my room coverage and many more. I was endorsed by the admission rep to a nurse named Evan who was really nice and friendly. Before I went to sleep I received a call from my anesthesiologist who was very nice to let me know what will happen the next day and during my operation. The next day, 8AM no more food and water allowed. I met another nurse who was very great! I swear sa WCC super hirap silang maghanap ng ugat to put the dextrose and 1 day lang tinatagal ng dextrose sa kamay ko but with that nurse named Juner was really awesome!!! Walang sakit pati skin test which i know super sakit nun. That morning, My anesthesiologist Dr. Annie Carvajal visited me. She's lovely superb! I had my operation at 4pm lasted for more than an hour. Went down to Operating room at 3pm and the only thing I remembered was the time I transferred to OR bed then that's it. I woke up at the recovery room and talked to another nurse who was so approachable, caring and sweet (sayang i wasn't able to get his name). I went back to my room before 9PM then continue resting. The next day, I had discharged slip. Imagine all is well that fast? Wow dba? However, my philhealth requirements ain't complete yet so I had to stay for another night in the hospital and met another friendly and caring nurse named Jeff. I was allowed to eat na so I tried hospital food(no salt and low fat) but it was great! Feels like not in the hospital talaga. The next day which is my last day in the hospital, We checked the bill and suprisingly hospital bill plus laparoscopy and professional fee just cost me 85,000. Swak na swak! Earlier after 5 days I had my follow up check up with Dr. Esguerra he was really cool, not just a Great Doctor or a Teacher but also a magician. Why? He gave me my gallstone it was really big but my cuts were really small. I'm still amazed how he managed to remove it from that small wound. Wew! And of course how did Dr. Enrique Hilario Esguerra and Dr. Annie Carvajal managed to lower down my bill.hehe Thanks St. Lukes for having these kinds of people (Doctors, nurse, etc).
Many thanks for sharing this particular good information. Gallstones are believed through the medical establishment being formed inside the particular gallbladder. Get to see a blog submit about removing gallstone naturally and that is helpful especially those seeking gallstone remedy. The guide is about gallstone removal with apple juice along with I see our people do talk about this too. View the blog post the following:

ReplyDeleteHow about philCARE? ANY IDEA how much it will cost us specially if itsmedical city?
ReplyDeleteSorry wala po ako idea regarding philcare
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to ask what happened to you after your surgery? I just had my surgery yesterday. 24 hours has passed. I don't feel nauseous and vomiting anymore although i'm having some fever and chills. Since the incisions are still fresh, I already know that it will hurt a bit when I stretch it. I'm just worried why i'm having fever and chills now. The doctor told me that the possible reason is because my body is traumatized from the anesthesia and the fact that I lost an organ.
I didn't but fever and chills are normal after operations. You should feel better after few days. Nothing to worry about. Get well soon! :)
DeleteHi katrine. My doctor advised me to have my whole gallbladder. Ganon din b ginawa sayo?
ReplyDeleteI mean to have my whole gallbladder removed
DeleteI mean to have my whole gallbladder removed
DeleteThey did not tell me na ireremove yung gallbladder ko pero that's exactly what happened. Sinabi na lang na wala na ko gallbladder after the operation.
DeleteHi Kathrine, you mean nung tinanggal ang gallstones mo is tantamount of removing your gallbladder then?
DeleteYes
DeleteHello. Glad I read your blog. I was advised to undergo laparoscopy due gallstones dn in st. Lukes. Did you advised Dr. Esguerra right away that you're under intellicare and the limit available?
ReplyDeleteYes I did. He's really nice and considerate. :)
DeleteThank you! I'll get in touch with him.kasi I was quoted that the package would cost 105k for the operation.
DeleteActually meron nagask din sakin recently and told Dr. Esguerra about this blog kaya pinagkasya din laman ng card nya. =)
Deletewow.talaga?.you're an angel! Hehe.
Deletehindi daw ba un makakasama sa katawan?.sorry I was bothering you about this.
ReplyDeleteWalang sakit promise! 3 maliit na butas hindi hiwa. ^_^

Okies.thank you so much angel 😇
DeleteHi just wanna ask what if walang philhealth or any medical card. How much it will cost for gall bladder removal?
ReplyDeleteHello! 85k all in eh nakacard ako and kasama na less sa philhealth nun. :)
DeleteHi gud pm ask k lng kung wla philhealth mga magkno kya mgastos mag pa laparoscopy kc i have multiple gallbleder at larger measure 2.3cm wla kc ako khin anong card kung cash lahat ang bayad magkano kya aabutin
ReplyDeleteI think almost same din but this time you have to cover for the professional fee and yun nga philhealth pa. :(
DeleteMga estimated kya how much
Delete120-150k
DeleteTnx
ReplyDeleteHi.. Ask ko lang, sa tingin mo would it be same amount kung philhealth lang ang meron ako? I can shell out money pero not more than 100k.
Deletehi. has anyone undergone lap chole lately at St. Lukes? may i know how much is the running cost. non HMO patient here. VRP Medical Center kc package costs 167k gross for a small private room.
ReplyDeleteI just recently visited doc esguerra, no hmo just philhealth, naquote saken is 150-180 depende sa tagal mo sa OR.
DeleteAs of July 27, 2017 - Cash payment: 109k ward package. 150k regular.
DeleteNagtataas daw kasi price ng 10% yearly
DeleteHi. Would you know how much would it cost using intellicare? Great blog by the way! Naghahanap rin kasi ako ng doctor for my gallstones.

Hi, I am diagnosed right now through ultrasound that I have gallstones and the only way to remove it is by operation. I'm pretty scared with needles and blood and is there a skin test that you have undergone? Did u take a potassium medicine that was also painful???
ReplyDeleteSkin test is necessary most especially to check if you have allergy on the anesthesia that will be used during your operation.
DeleteMam Kathrine thank you for all your info. It help us a lot.
ReplyDeleteHow much na kaya now ang package ni Dr.Esguerra?
ReplyDeleteAround 115-120k na daw po
Deletewow July ka naopera and July din ngyon. I am now on my 4th actually 5th day of having pain in my abdomen. At 1st doctors thought it only as hyperacidity or ulcer like dyspepsia. I just had my ultrasound earlier today. That's where found out that I have gallstones.
ReplyDeleteHad to remove mine ASAP kasi nakabara na daw and pwedeng mamaga pati ibang organs ko.
DeleteHi... Mayroon parin po ba cya sa Antipolo?
ReplyDeleteHow much na po package?
Mayroon pa ba sa Antipolo?
ReplyDeleteWhat po schedule niya?
Tawagan niyo nalang po:
DeleteAntipolo Doctors Hospital.

Delete1 month ako naka LOA. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry no idea po. :)
Deletesa package sis kasama na ba lahat including pf and room? tnx
ReplyDeleteYes po
DeleteFound the picture of my gallstone.
ReplyDeleteJust a bit of suggestion, if you are diagnosed with gallstones, better have the lap chole the soonest. Don’t wait for the gallstone to drop and get stuck in the common bileduct because it will require another procedure (ERCP) that will triple your cost. My husband just had the 2 procedures last week. Lap chole package at ManilaMed costs P64,000, all in. ERCP is quite expensive.
Deletecan i have the name of your doctor at manila med? thanks
Lukes. Mero ba si dr. Hilario sa st. Lukes bgc? Same price parin po ba?
ReplyDeleteTawagan nyo nalang po sa clinic.
DeleteBtw maam anong size nung stone mo? 2.2 kasi sakin sa ultrasound kanina para may idea ako gano na kalaki yung akin. Dipa naman daw emergency pero urgent.
ReplyDelete4.2cm po
DeleteHad my laparoscopy emergency procedure MAY 1 2017 (labor day holiday) @ The Medical City .TOTAL HOSPITAL BILL wAS 230K.Six days stay in standard private room.PF of all my doctors were on the normal range.LAPAROSCOPY PACKAGE @ MEDICAL CITY 130K.ADDT'L 100K WAS FOR ALL THE OTHER LAB TESTS + IT WAS A HOLIDAY when i had my emergency surgery so I HAVE TO PAY A PREMUIM DAW.
ReplyDeleteWew :(
DeleteHi! I'm about to undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and ang quote sakin sa Makati Med is around 150k-200k.
ReplyDeleteMeron naman akong Philhealth and Cocolife for 120k.

DeleteHi. Taga sta Rosa Laguna po ako. Ang quoted price sakin is 90k-110k daw. Kaya I'm confused. May philhealth din ako. I need help or advise sang hospital na philhealth/intellicare affiliated ang pwede Kong punthan?
At saan maganda magpaopera? I have maxicare that can cover up to 400k.
ReplyDeleteNagustuhan ko sa St. Lukes QC kayDr. Enrique Hilario Esguerra madali at nakakagaan ng loob kausap. Gamit ko intellicare dati. Itawag mo nalang po doon 7230101. :)
